Allegorical bookplate of Acton Phillips (prob. proprietor of Lyric Theatre Hammersmith) on pastedown, contemporary ownership inscriptions "Mary Carter" at head of title and most monthly issues, one page corner torn off without loss of text, plates & text otherwise complete, clean and crisp. *Includes detailed news of second year of 1745 Jacobite rebellion and reprisals, foreign news, ships lost & won in battles with the French, articles by J. Freke FRS & others on the Discovery of Electricity and its uses in medicine. A mixed copy of 10 monthly issues from two years, as bound together at the time in a volume dated 1747.
