Description 250x193mm beige cloth spined glazed pictorial and gilt boards (edges and especially corners worn) 64pp one page with marginal tear wihout loss and not touching printed area. Handsome insciption dated Xmas 1887 on fly leaf. *The book deals with children's cruelty to animals and with race relations between blacks and whites in South Africa. It contains a variant version of "Hush a bye baby" not found in Opie; Gross says Osborne's date is wrong; a few signs of use but lovely book by an author ranked by Sadlier as among Ouida, Mrs. Braddon & Charlotte Yonge.
