Description Small folio (280x210mm) purple decorated & gilt cloth with 4 colour-onlays bevelled boards (tips worn, 2" head of spine repaired/edges bit faded but gilt bright) All Edges Gilt Titlepage +Dedication page +6 plates with guard-sheets, inscription on FEP dated 1875 small corner tide mark to gutter corner never anywhere near the illustrated area. The poem is printed in red, blue and gold with fancy initial to each verse, the surround consists of colored floral decorations on gold ground with an inset etched illustration for each page. Each page is differently decorated. *Cf.McLean's "Victorian Book Design" for the interesting mixture of CHROMOLITHOGRAPHY & ETCHING on these plates "A Tour de force which is surprisingly successful" (p134).
