Titlepage +advert leaf +xxii (subscriber list) +half title +231pp. Victorian Institution label to pastedown with rules for the library's use. *The first edition published after the death of the author to benefit his widow including many Large paper copies including such for Dr.Johnson, Sir Josshua Reynolds, Sir Joseph Banks and others. The second of these treatises seeks to refute Isaac Newton's argument that peoples tend to exagerate the antiquity of their origins as a matter of vanity and thus falsified their chronology. He belived that the Greeks did this with the origin of the Olympiads. Musgrave in this disseration works through the victors of the Olympic games to give a different chronology that actually seems to push the first Olympiad to an even earlier period.
