Surface damage to portrait of Charles II, titlepage with name erased making small hole to blank area, name Eliz. Ridley at foot, ornamental border cropped at top & cut off at outer margin. In text the top margin is sometimes cropped into the running header, the paper is uniformly tanned but still supple, p25 has a small marginal repair with 3 letters completed in manuscript, p17 with clean tear repaired. *The biography ends with a fulsome account of the appearance and character of the King - "though what I shall say herein will come as far short of his admirable Endowments as the Light of a Candle to that of the Sun."
