Weatherly,Fred. E. & - CHERRY CHEEKS AND ROSES (c. 1890)
[J72021]

£55.00

Author: Weatherley,Fred. E. & George Weatherley
Title: CHERRY CHEEKS AND ROSES
PlacePub: London
Publisher: Ernest Nister / E.P. Dutton New York
Date: 1890 by inscription
Illustrations: 8 pages of chromoliths (including doublepage) +yellow and brown lithographed text illustrations to every non-chromo page.

Olive cloth-spined boards (some scratches/tips rubbed) [32]pp unpaginated, 3 marginal closed tears not touching any printed area and one scratch however there is no adhesion to any of the pages not even to the double page spread of the monkeys at school. Inscription to Eila with Mr & Mrs D.M. Shaw's best Christmas Wishes 1890 on fly leaf. Unusual titlepage with poem but no author. *Weatherley was probably the editor as the only other authors given eg Gertrude Harraden says by Permisson & G.M. Moore says extract from a little girl's letter. The first chromolith is on the back of the titlepage. No artist signatures except doublepage Cat School has monogram A.H. whereas the Hunts ascribe the plates to H.M. Bennett & Lizzie Lawson, and W. Foster. The text illustrations have B in a rectangle but 2 have RABEll. Hunt date is c1891 and calls for only 26 pages and 6 plates of chromos so probably information from an incomplete copy (Hunt p65).

This book was added to our catalogue on Friday 15 January, 2010.
