Description Octavo sprinkled tan roan on 5 raised bands compartments gilt, spine label missing (tips worn hinges cracked but held by cords head & tail of spine chipped) [7]pp titlepage + dedication + to reader +[1]p blank +333pp +[2]pp index auctorum veterum +[1]p publisher's book list. Titlepage and a few others with pale foxing mainly to margins but neat and crisp with some pages unopened(ESTCT 136980). Handsome but foxed Coat of Arms bookplate by G. Hains, W.H. Toms Sculp 1752 to pastedown. *A philosphical work about discovering the future by dreams or astrology, augury, oracles etc. in the form of a dialogue with much scepticism and disbelief. In De Fato Cicero denies the idea of fate or strict causal determinism and defends human freedom.
