Description Folio speckled panelled calf on 6 raised bands (top 2 compartments repaired/bottom of spine repaired) monogram on pastedown and Society ownership with price on flyleaf. Frontis +titlepage +[8]pp Preface +[2]pp subscribers list +[4]pp +760pp +[13]pp index (with several half-titles). Worm tracks not near text at foot of 1st ten leaves, some neat ink & pencil marginal notes and pencil underlinging, very clean and crisp (ESTC T101051). *A convinced Anglo-Catholic, George Bull wrote several influential works of theology and Church history, which are here collected and edited by Dr Ernest Grabe. Bull was appointed Bishop of St. David's late in life and held the see for only 4 years before his death in 1710. An anecdote from 1706 when his health was failing is recorded in Hearne's Diary: "When the Bill for the Security of the Church of England was read .. Dr. Bull sate in the Lobby of the House of Lords all the while smoking his Pipe" (DNB).
