152x95mm in 8's half vellum with red gilt leather spine label (rubbed) Titlepage +[5] leaves prelims +[2] blank leaves +335 leaves with errata on verso of last. Bookplate of chariot Bibl. Hammer Stockholm and catalogue note from Swedish National Library 1874. Titlepage has early inscriptions on top margin and note to fore-edge, verso has name T.C. Palm but ink blot from attempt to obliterate it has seeped through to recto staining part of the author's name and end of subtitle. About 12 leaves have Latin marginalia but cropped by binder, some others have neat underlining. One opening browned, two blank corners torn away 2cm x 1.5cm not touching text. Without the folding table, as often, this is still a clean tight copy of the first Crato edition. *The author was the son-in-law of Melancthon and tried in this main work to integrate alchemy and the occult with the "modern" chemistry of Paracelsus. Deals also with Oracles, Magic, Meteorology, Chiromancy, Astrology etc. (Grasse Magica 111, Wellcome 1,4968 Durling 3611).
