Small octavo contemporary speckled calf on 4 raised bands, spine gilt & with contrasting spine label (spine gilt dulled tips slightly worn) Title +[6]pp to the reader +262pp +[2]pp errata. Paper uniformly browned but strong and supple. On the titlepage and throughout the text some passages are written in a mixture of upper and lower case letters seemingly selected at random, the upper case being Roman numerals apparently to be read as a coded message (eg. saCeLLano aVLICo CoLonIensI). *History in verse of the 1680-6 Cologne (Koln) rebellion led by Nikolaus Gülich, noting parallels in world events at that time and the history of earlier unrest in the city. Very rare primary text on the history of Cologne.
