Description
Octavo vellum with yapp edges, traces of old manuscript lettering on spine. Damage at corners, spine and front hinge repaired and original vellum relaid. New endpapers. Titlepage +[6]leaves (index) +[1]leaf (blank) +456 leaves + 2 unnumbered leaves of index (ie 932 pages in all). Old names in brown ink on blank areas of titlepage crossed out, small strip of paper under the imprint cut off (0.6cm x5.2cm) to remove name, traces still visible. Damp marks and stains throughout the text with some waviness to leaves but paper still strong and supple. Some old neat underlining to about a dozen leaves in book IIII. Two minor marginal tears else all leaves square and well bound in. So not in good condition but complete and still an early entirely readable copy. *Edited by Jean Aleaume, Parisian professor of theology, this edition has over 60 pages of listings of "errors" condemned by the Paris Chancellary. Lombards Sentences was one of the classic works of mediaeval theology but was being challenged by the early 16th century.
