Duodecimo (142x85mm) marbled calf lacking spine labels (worn and one edge with leather darkened, hinges partly cracked but still secure/tips worn & chipped to head & foot of spine) Titlepage +[6]pp +195pp. Bookplate of Library of American board of commissioners for foreign Missions and bookplate of Daniel Barnes. Some foxing mainly to first pages but neat, tight and clean. Voyages of William Dampier and of Capt.Woodes Rogers who found the castaway Alexander Selkirk on the Island of Jan Fernandez. Thence to Galapagos and northward along California coast which is described. This is one of the most interesting volumes in this series of early childrens book on exploration with all the charming required plates.
