Description
Octavo green half calf spine gilt (rebacked but old leather much faded to tan) 229pp+errata leaf. The Titlepage and the first leaf of the list of recipients are in Facsimile from the Cambridge University Library copy. The 2nd leaf of recipients, including M. Franklin (ie. Benjamin Franklin, then ambassador in Paris) & the other U.S. recipients are original, as is also the half title. The rest of the text of this important work is in nice original state with the usual pale foxing. With the stamp of C. Mazkey to half title which also has "par Mesmer" in ink. Mesmer's name is given to the state of hypnosis and led to the use of hypnosis in medicine and contributed to the development of pyschoanalysis. *Not published in Germany until 1873 as he had trouble with the authorities in Vienna, Paris and elsewhere. This work defends his theories and gives case histories, and is always a scarce and expensive title, with the condition here taken into account making this an inexpensive way of acquiring a copy of this interesting and important work.
