Description Octavo fine gilt vellum with grand Coat of Arms to both covers + smaller arms to each of the corners & gilt arms lozenges to spine (spine sl.rubbed/seems to have had green silk ribbon ties now gone) Engraved TP + Printed TP with woodcut of Father Time & amilary sphere printer's mark +(28p)+439pp+(40pp of indices) A very nice copy with 4 marginal tears not affecting text and a single worm hole in the margin from p 401 becoming a 1cm track in the index only and a long track on the inside of the rear cover not affecting its outer surface at all. A handsome binding, nice clean condition with with neat typography to be expected of Blaeu famous for his printed maps. *24 biographies of famous men by the Roman scolar Nepos, followed by some fragments of his chronicles. The last life, of Titus Pomponius Atticus, was personally known to the author and thus gives a more immediate glimpse of Roman attitudes.
