(tips rubbed/tiny ink spot to spine) All Edges Gilt marbled endpapers Frontis. +TP +(xiv) +folding plate +278pp A few marginal tears/tiny corner losses with a small burn hole to E1-5 repaired, else a lovely clean copy. *A thinly veiled attack on Oliver Cromwell in which he is equated with the Sicilian tyrant Agathocles (362-289 B.C) who ruined Sicily by his wars with Carthage. The Preface signed by Perrinchief, an ardent royalist, makes the parallel clear "The miseries which Tyrants usually bring upon that unhappy people, who, by impatience of a Just Government, and by their seditious attempt upon their Lawful Prince, have exposed themselves to the Cheats, and are at last inslaved by the Power of such Ambitious Persons, cease not with their lives but are extented to the following Age .." (WING P1607).
