Folio contemporary calf rebacked 5 raised bands gilt ruled with partly defective label (tips worn) xxxix (recte liii) + (ii) +315pp + (ii) + 86 of 90pp. With the half title and both title pages but lacking the last two leaves of the explanatory notes of the 6th satire of Persius. A damp stain to the gutter margin of the first two leaves & sl.dusting to p 86 of the Persius otherwise no marks, clean & supple throughout. Signature of General Whitmore on pastedown. *This folio edition was subsequently issued in a second edition in 1697 this, and all later 18th century editions, were in smaller format. Despite its fault at the end, a collectible book.
