Quarto overall gilt cloth signed J.L(eighton) (spine sunned/tips worn and head/foot of spine chipped) All Edges Gilt; viii+462pgs; lacks all of front free endpaper and 3/4 of free rear endpaper. With binder's ticket of Edmonds & Remnant. Front inner hinge sl.pulled and blank before half title and blank after index are foxed, rest of text and illustrations are lovely and white (better paper) Illustrations are a marvel of technique and printed from up to 10 blocks printed by hand (also the last book Evans printed on a handpress). Victorian Binding discussed in R. McLean p.114. Evans called this his most carefully printed work.
