Frontis + titlepage printed in red & black with printer's device of cherubs blowing up a storm at sea +pp prelims with emblem index +514pp +pp index with Finis & colophon. Small stamps of Quebec convent on flyleaf, back of frontis & with perforated stamp on title, neat ownership inscriptions of 2 Pastors dated 1799-1800 on flyleaf and name of one Correns repeated in margin of title. First and last few pages foxed else neat and clean throughout. *Nicely executed emblems, showing ships, mythical beasts, plants, animals incl. bats, birds, scientific tools, musical instruments etc. each within a decorative oval frame with caption above. The explanations of these emblems - none of which are in themselves religious - all relate to Mary mother of Jesus (see Landwehr 319 Praz 351 for third edition).
