BINDING Duodecimo tan calf (20.5 x 13cm) with unusual gilt tooling to covers: grasshoppers, beetles, butterflies, bees, snails, spiders etc. with floral corner pieces and gilt dentelles (tips worn, leather slightly marked) [4pp] + 72pp including unpaginated dedication to Prince Henry signed Richard Connak July 1609. The first leaf explains: "This Treatise is carefully transcribed from the Original, which is fairly Written on Vellum, and is now in the Library of Trinity College, Cambridge". Front pastedown has handsome oval label with gilt coat of arms of Chandos Leigh - engraved bookplate of James Leigh of Adlestrop on rear pastedown with same escutcheon but different quaterings. Contents clean, unmarked no tears no loose pages. *Beautifully bound very pretty book (ESTC T140622).
