Octavo blindstamped and gilt tan roan (edges worn spine label mostly chipped away). Frontis + Titlepage with Pheonix printer's mark + titlepage to first edition called "Illustrations of Hogarth" 3-72pp. Contents clean crisp and tight. *Hogarth's pictures are described but not shown and this second edition is much expanded and includes bibliographical references and excerpts from authors ranging from Aristotle to Plutarch to Jonson, Dryden and Pope, in both poetry and prose, most in English but many in Latin, some in Greek.
