This First volume was published 7 years AFTER the second volume and together are titled RERUM ANGLICARUM SCRIPTORUM VETERUM.It is substantially longer than the second volume and contains 15 monastic chronicles including William of Malmesbury's, The Chronica of John Wallingford, the Scottish History of John Fordun, among anonymous Manuscripts and less well known early annals.
