Stanley,William, Dean of St. Asaph - FAITH AND PRACTICE OF A CHURCH OF ENGLAND-MAN. 1688
[V66160]

£85.00

Author: Stanley,William Dean of St. Asaph (but no author on TP)
Title: FAITH AND PRACTICE OF A CHURCH OF ENGLAND-MAN the third edition.
PlacePub: London
Publisher: Kettilby
Date: 1688

Duodecimo contemporary gilt calf (worn and 2" split to one hinge and some leather lacunae/worming) 198pp. imprimatur leaf dated 1688 before the titlepage, several inscriptions including a charming verse on the rear pastedown: "His book God gave him Grace therein to looke and not to looke but understand for learning is better than Houses nor land. When land is gone and money spent learning is the most excellent." There is a diagram on the front pastedown, a few doodles but mainly repeated names to imprimatur leaf, one ink spot (.5mm) to TP & faint, neat copperplate name on back of TP & name on margin of contents page, no other writing or ink in the book until the last page where by Finis there are initials and a name & date. Despite the various provenances the book is clean and crisp, though inner hinge is weak.
