Small folio green gilt pictorial cloth with mountain background (tips worn, spine damaged athead & foot but binding bright) All Edges Gilt, 210pp +6pp with heights of mountains etc and Index. *Note only the New Revised edition had a colour plate added. Includes first hand of account of the mountaineering tragedy which followed the first successful climb to the sumit of the Matterhorn. Whymper reached the top of the mountain and was not killed in the descent when 4 men roped together died.
