Octavo roan spined marbled boards but lacking leather to spine but covers firmly attached (tips rubbed) xv+(i)+440pp first issued in parts and here still carrying the part numbers I-XIV at the foot of each section. Plates are mostly rather foxed else neat and tight copy. Last page with a sour marginal note in pencil. *Humorous novel includes cross dressing a man in stays and women's attire and later the women revolt and get the upper hand and later it ends up happily. Aside from the foxed plates rest of bookblock in nice condition.
